Below is detailed information about the card stunt process. If you have questions about any of this information, please contact Joe Kivett at 407-342-0752 or joe@cardstunts.com.

We Create These Types of Card Stunts

  • Billboard Card Stunts: The Billboard Card Stunt is for clients who are looking to create a very detailed card stunt on a small scale. For the Billboard Card Stunt, we import your design into our computer, cut it up and create one image file for each card. We then print each image file in rectangular sections (24” x 30”) and mount each section onto Foam Core or Coroplast. The card holders hold the cards above their heads to form the image. Each card becomes a “puzzle piece.”
  • Traditional Card Stunt: The Traditional Card Stunt is for clients who are looking for a big card stunt with a big broad message or image. For at Traditional Card Stunt, each card is a solid color or pixel. Together the pixels create the image. The per-unit price for the traditional card stunt is less than the Billboard Card Stunt.

Building Your Venue In Our Computer

The first step in the Card Stunt process is to build the venue seating configuration in our computer. In order to do this, we need a seating diagram, a seating manifest and digital photographs of the sections being used for the card stunt.

Designs
We create the designs based on your input. This service is included in our fee.

Number of Stunts
We usually create two card stunts per event. The biggest expense in creating a card stunt is the cost to print and package the cards. Each card has to be printed on both sides, regardless of the number of stunts. Therefore, we normally create two card stunts for each event.

Stunt Cards
The cards are 18” x 20”, they are 80# cover stock, they have a 1” x 6” “viewing rectangle,” and they come folded in a plastic bag. Our price includes printing the cards, placing them in plastic bags (to protect them from the elements), and shipping the cards to the venue.

Card Placement
The cards arrive at the venue sorted by section and row. We hire local volunteer groups to tape the cards to the seats.

Supervision
A team from JacobDavis Productions is on site to coordinate the placement of the cards in the venue.

Attaching the Cards to the Seats
A small piece of blue masking tape is used to attach the cards to the seats. Stadium Management should be made aware of this, however, we have never had a problem with the tape on the seats.

Audience Instructions
We create all the instructions required to instruct the audience how to perform a card stunt. On each card, we print instructions and diagrams, which outline when to hold up the card and how to hold the card. We also write the script for PA announcements that can be made prior to the card stunt. A very quick rehearsal normally takes place prior to the actual card stunt. This creates an opportunity for the participants to become familiar with their card. It also gets the entire stadium excited about the card stunt, which results in a high percentage of audience members remaining in their seat.

Cueing the Audience
There are three ways to cue the audience:

  • Section Leaders – Volunteers who hold up large cue cards
  • Stadium Announcements
  • Matrix Board or Large Format Video Screens
We normally use two of the three formats.
We work with your team to determine the best way to cue the audience. We “call the cues” at the specified time.

Sponsorship Opportunities
There are several ways for the card stunt sponsor can get recognition:

  • Include the sponsor name and logo in the card stunt design
  • Include the sponsor name and logo on each stunt card
  • Insert a sponsor brochure, coupon or product sample in the bags that protect the cards.
  • Recognize the sponsor via in-stadium advertising and announcements
Card Stunts allow sponsors to get their message in the hands of their target audience for the duration of the event.

What We Need From the Client

  • Design Input and Logos
  • Stadium Photographs, Seating Manifest and Seating Diagram, so our designers can “build” the stadium in our computer.
  • Information about the overall show concept - how does the card stunt fit into the big picture? The card stunt should happen in conjunction with other show elements (as a backdrop for the National Anthem).
  • Stadium shipping address
  • Stadium contacts: Video Board Operator, Stadium Manager, Security Manager
  • Permission to tape the cards to the seats
  • Venue availability; when can we place the cards in the seats?
  • Permission to keep some of the stadium lights on during the card placement process (if the cards are placed at night)

Lead Time

Depending on the number of seats included, the lead time to create a card stunt ranges from four to eight weeks.

Fireworks
Smoke from fireworks and other pyrotechnic effects block the view of the card stunt. It is recommended that these effects not be used in conjunction with the card stunts.

Costs
Costs vary based on the number of cards, the number of stunts, the complexity of the stunts, and the location of the venue. Once you have a better idea of what you want to do, we can prepare cost estimates.
